Live & Learn in Rockford: Attend College Tuition-Free

Rockford Promise Logo - decorative

The Rockford Promise partnership is exactly what it sounds like: A promise.

Rockford Promise works with Rockford University, Rock Valley College and Northern Illinois University to provide scholarships for qualifying students to attend college tuition-free.

In addition to covering tuition, Rockford Promise provides resources, mentoring, grade monitoring and encouragement to support students as they navigate post-graduation life and stay on track to find success in college and beyond.

Who it’s for

Students must meet GPA requirements and spend all four years of high school – and graduate from -- Auburn, East, Guilford, Jefferson or Roosevelt high school. For the Rockford Promise program with NIU, students must live within the Rockford city limits.

The current agreement with the City of Rockford offers promise support for the current Class of 2023 through the Class of 2032. That means when they’ve reached their senior year – if they meet all the requirements – all RPS 205 high school and middle school students, plus elementary students currently in second, third, fourth and fifth grades, can be a part of Rockford Promise.

Learn More

Visit the Rockford Promise website and complete a contact form. Current RPS 205 high school students can contact their counselor for more information.
