February 11th was the 100th Day of School! First Grade celebrated by dressing up as 100-year-olds as well as doing tons of fun "100" related activities.

Third grade ended our Light & Sound unit with an Escape Room. Students had to listen carefully to guess the pitch, guess the sound, read secret messages with mirrors, use magnifying glasses, and read with invisible ink. Such a fun way to wrap up all that they had learned!

Fifth grade students are diving into the world of Renaissance! To experience what it was like for Michelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel, they tried their hand at drawing upside down—right under their desks!

Kindergarten spent several weeks learning all about Native Americans and their life many years ago. They spent a lot of time learning all about the resources found among the land including the many uses of buffalo. We made buffalo vests and teepees.

It's that time of year again, PROJECT FAIR TIME! Sign-up flyers are coming home, family participation is always welcome! If your child plans on turning in a project, please read through the flyer and return the bottom portion ASAP. We can't wait to see all the creativity and learning this year.

Fourth grade finsihed up the geology unit in CKLA. We explored how vocalones are made and erupt.

The 1st grade classes at West View are learning all about space and the solar system. This week we learned about cycles of the moon. We used Oreos to model the different moon phases. They loved using cookies, especially since they got to snack on the extras!

Don't Miss the Frosty Fun Event! Thursday, Jan 23rd from 5-7 we will celebrate the Ties and Tiaras Winter Formal. This is a FUNdraising activity that supports student giveaways and our school store. $2 ENTRY FEE for each student and adult chaperones are FREE. Chaperones must be present with students. This event is cash-only. There will be candy, snacks, pizza, and water for purchase.

Each month, third grade students are expected to read 20 days for 20 minutes or longer for their reading homework. The students who return their signed reading log at the end of the month get a prize. This month, they got a 3D printed fidget! I wonder what the prize will be for the January reading logs!!

All RPS 205 schools are closed today because of the colder than expected weather. All after-school activities are also cancelled including Y Care. The RPS 205 Admin Bldg, Sterling Holley, & Ops Support Ctr will be open. This day will be made up on March 3 (Casimir Pulaski Day).

The Rockford School District is closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day
